What are you going to miss the most?
There are lots of thing to miss. I mean, IT’S 7 MONTHS!!! But I think I will miss my friends the most. It’s like they’re my 2nd family. I feel like I can trust them with anything and they will never judge me. We’re also very mean to each other, in a friendly way. I know I will be ready to come back after 7 months and the first things I will think of are my best friends.
What country are you most looking forward to?
Any country in Africa. It sounds so cool. It has all of the animals I’m interested in and it seems almost opposite of Colorado. I don’t want to go to any big cities or pretty much anywhere that’s remotely like USA, just because I want to see something different…like monkeys jumping off our roof. I’m also trying to convince my parents to book a flight to Australia. I really think Australia is a cool place. Plus, trying to convince my parents to go there is a fun challenge.
What do you do for fun?
I am obsessed with gymnastics! I can’t go a day without doing a cartwheel, literally, I tried. I always push myself to my limits. I got my round-off back handspring back tuck (back flip) and I already want to work on my layout 1/2 (too complicated to explain). I’m just worried about my gymnastics on the trip, beaches aren’t really ideal for back flips.
What animal are you on the look out for?
I love cheetahs. They are my favorite animal by far. I love their agility grace, and speed. That’s always the thing I work on when I’m doing gymnastics. Also, they’re sooo cute and their fur is beautiful, especially for where they live. I don’t believe in fear when it comes to animals, so I would like to get as close as possible to a cheetah.
Fun Fact about you:
I love pie. A lot. Last year one of my friends put pictures of pie on my locker in August for my birthday, I took it down in May. Every year I have a pie eating contest for my birthday, and I’m undefeated. Also I memorized 75 digits of pi, but this is all I can remember now… 3.1415926535897932384. The trick is making a “Pi Phone Book” where you make the digits of pi phone numbers.

What are you going to miss the most?
I am sure I will miss our loved ones the most. But I really look forward to the new friendships that we will forge along the way!
What country are you most looking forward to?
Argentina- I am amazed in our planning of the diversity of this country. And my enthusiasm is surely influenced by the fact that this is where we are making specific plans right now. But seeing a glacier, penguins, Patagonian vistas, a rain forest ecolodge and Iguazu Falls all in one country pretty much blows my mind.
What do you do for fun?
I love to create scrapbooks. My memory isn’t the best, but my life is… so I document it all really well! And to me everything is about this trip is fun. It feeds my soul to travel. I love the research and planning of our adventure and I love the mystery of the days we have not yet planned.
What animal are you on the look out for?
I do not tire of watching animals in their natural habitat. So, I am looking out for everything! But the big one on my bucket list is the Orangutan. Chad and I have visited Mountain Gorillas and Chimpanzees and have such an appreciation for our nearest relatives.
Fun Fact about you:
While I have spent a lot of time travelling around, every time I leave Colorado I appreciate it more. Thus, this apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree. In fact, Shia attends the same middle school I did.
