Oz Highlights

Sorry Folks!  I just realized we never did our highlights from Australia so I started a blog to jot down thoughts and accidentally hit publish instead of Save Draft!  Getting use to using a mouse again I guess.

Chad

• Great Barrier Reef – Went with kinda low expectations since we’ve had such amazing dives elsewhere and in 2002 it wasn’t our favorite, but it was great.  Something about the dives on the Great Barrier Reef feel very different from the other reef dives we’ve done.  And seeing a Leopard Shark was a thrill, and a fun irony since we never got a good view of a leopard.

• O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat in Lamington National Park
• Fun Falls and Forest – I have cherished the memories of this trip through the years and it was fun to relive it with the kids.
• Australia Zoo – Walking through a field of kangaroos that would let us love on them, petting a koala, watching the kids cuddle with a koala and introducing them to Steve Irwin was a blast.

Shia

• Fun Falls and Forest Daytrip to waterfall swimming holes galore
• Wildlife – especially Koalas and Kangaroos
• Road Trip
• Shia basically tried to create huge categories of highlights because she loved ALL of Australia.  Okay, maybe not the art museum, but she loved Australia a lot!
